Holli Rubin

Holli is a member of The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), United Kingdom Association of Humanistic Psychology Practitioners (UKAHPP) and United Kingdom Association of Integrative Psychotherapy (UKAPI).

Trained and educated in both America and Canada, Holli Rubin gained the knowledge, skills and experience that have equipped her for a comprehensive approach to mental health and wellbeing. She completed her Bachelors degree in Psychology from McGill university and went on to do a Master’s degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy ( MSW) from New York University. Holli is a member of The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and United Kingdom Association of Integrative Psychotherapy(UKAPI).

Holli has worked as a member of community mental health teams in London, New York and Montreal, and has provided her own brand of caring and attentive therapy for clients both on the NHS and privately. She established her first practice out of The Birth Centre on Harley street and was involved with a multi disciplinary team and is now focussing more locally at the Fulham Osteopathic Practice where she is involved in establishing the Natural Natal Centre, a multi disciplinary team focussing on Fertility and Pregnancy. Holli holds another clinic at Basuto Medical Centre where she sees individuals as well as couples.

In addition to working in partnership with medical and complimentary practitioners, Holli has established a successful and growing practice. Holli specialises in the areas of preconception, pregnancy and parenthood with a particular interest in body image and the impact physical change has on self esteem. She also leads seminars and workshops for expectant and new mothers and their partners on coping with the issues revolving around pregnancy and parenthood.

Some common issues that arise are questions and concerns about loss of control, stress, frustration, and feelings of failure. Anxiety around new parenthood raises questions and often fears about identity and the changing of roles, coping with the changes in relationships and many more.

Holli is committed to helping women and couples manage the various issues that emerge at these transitional times. Her aim is to support her clients, to help them gain the confidence and self comfort that will initiate positive change. Many of these issues, while common and “normal” are often not discussed consequently leaving new mothers and parents feeling very alone.

Therapy, while common practice in North America, is less well accepted in the UK and unfortunately, continues to have a negative stigma attached to it. Holli tries to break down those barriers as she believes strongly in the benefit of expressing yourself through talk therapy and that emotional care is as important as physical care.
Talking in a neutral, accepting and caring environment with someone who can empathise does help. Therapy is a way of assisting people to overcome the challenges that prevent them from living the life they want. The aim of counselling/psychotherapy is to offer support so that you can make the necessary changes in your life.

In a session, you and Holli will work together to identify and understand what you are feeling and focus on the issues that are affecting your happiness, relationships and quality of life. She will ask questions, actively listen and help you see things from a different perspective.
Trained in several different therapeutic approaches, Holli tailors each session to meet the needs of the individual.
