Acupuncture
Hanna Evans
I am a fully qualified acupuncturist and member of the
British Acupuncture Council(BAAC). I have a general practice
at the Fulham Osteopaths and have a special interest and
additional post graduate training in the areas of fertility
and pregnancy.
I became a licensed acupuncturist in 2005 after completing
a four year full-time course in both TCM (Traditional
Chinese Medicine) and Five Element acupuncture at the
College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading.
My experience in treating infertility was a direct result
of the increasing numbers of men and women, who came for
help to either boost their natural ability to conceive or
support them through and improve their chances of success
during IVF and other fertility treatments.
Once a pregnancy is acheived many patients often
continue
treatment through the first weeks of their baby's
development, or for help with morning sickness and fatigue,
and later on, heartburn, swollen ankles and finally in the
last few weeks I would prepare them for birth, turn breech
babies or help induce when overdue.
I also gained a personal insight into fertility and
pregnancy when I gave birth to my first child in my
forties. I feel acupuuncture contributed to his conception,
our joint well-being throughout my pregnancy, and was
instrumental, in an easy and natural birth.
In addition to experience, I have post-graduate training in
both areas and in the last few years have completed courses
with fertility expert Zita West, pregnancy specialist Debra
Betts and medical herbalist and acupuncturist Jayne
Littleton amongst others.
I am also a member of the Acupuncture Fertility Network.
The AFN is a special interest group for acupuncturists
dedicated to supporting those with fertility issues who
have completed and are committed to on-going post-graduate
study through Continuing Professional Development. Members
are required to have attended post-graduate courses in
these fields.
As well as my practice in Fulham I have a clinic in Lewes,
East Sussex where I am a member of B.A.B.E - the Brighton
Acupuncture for Birth Experience. BABE was et up by a team
of acupuncturists with a common interest in enhancing the
birth experience for mothers and babies, we also treat
fertility issues and give on-going support throughout
pregnancy.
