Osteopathy and Cranial Osteopathy
Melinda Cotton DO. Registered Osteopath, Consultant Osteopath at Fulham Osteopaths.
Melinda graduated from the British School of Osteopathy. She has completed Cranial Osteopathy courses with the Sutherland Cranial Teaching Foundation. Her gentle but thorough approach is particularly suitable for the care of expectant mothers and their babies. In 1989 she establish Fulham Osteopaths where she leads a team of osteopaths that aspire to provide the very best osteopathic care to their patients.
Melinda has two young children of her own. Her long
journey toward motherhood has provided her with a
wealth of insights, knowledge and experience about
the challenges fertility, pregnancy and childbirth.
During her treatments she aims to help her patient
feel physically well but also empowered to find their
own way forwards as they face the emotional, physical
and lifestyle changes that pregnancy, birth and early
motherhood inevitably bring. Her years of experience
as an osteopath have shown her that many of the
annoying “small problems” of pregnancy such as minor
aches and pains, cramps, constipation and headaches,
as well as more disabling conditions such as
symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD) get in the way of a
woman feeling really well during her pregnancy. Often
these ailments and conditions can be improved or
resolved with the right advice, care or support,
leaving a woman able to enjoy her pregnancy in the
best of health.
Melinda frequently works in collaboration with a patient’s healthcare professionals including their Yoga or Pilates teachers. The sharing of insights and findings about a particular patient enables each healthcare professional to have a more complete picture of their patient thereby helping them to provide the most effective care. This is particularly important during pregnancy as a woman’s body is changing at a very rapid pace. The desire to see a more integrated approach to the care of women before, during and after a pregnancy was the inspiration out of which the Natural Natal Centre was born.
